How to Change a Purse Snap
A purse snap is the clasp that holds the opening of the purse closed. Snaps vary in size, shape and style. They can be magnetic, a clip, a button or another type of closure. Occasionally a snap may break and need to be replaced. Replacement snaps are readily available online and at fabric stores. Does this Spark an idea?

Before buying replacement snaps, examine the existing snaps to determine what kind of snaps you will need. Some have a mechanism or pin that keeps the snap in place affixed to the purse, while others are sewn into the purse material.

Remove the existing snaps. Cut the existing stitching that holds the snaps in using sewing scissors. Pull out the stitching and pry out the snaps. Use the scissors to snip any loose threads. Do this for both snaps on the purse. If the snaps are held in by a pin or screw, unscrew the screws holding the snaps in using an appropriately sized screwdriver (this will vary depending on the screws). The screw will likely be located inside the purse. Carefully note how and where the snaps were attached to the purse.

Fasten the new snaps in the same manner used to attach the old snaps, either by sewing or screwing them in. Open and close the purse several times to ensure that the snap is securely attached.
