How to Form a Block Style Letter
The block letter is a format that you can use to write letters. The format is commonly used for business letters and is the most formal format for letters. Block letters have no indentation and all text starts in a straight line against the left margin. You can form a block letter by making sure your letter includes the proper components, spacing and justification.

Enter the date approximately two lines or two inches below the letterhead.

Leave four line spaces and type the name and address of the person you are writing the letter to. You can also include the name of the business below the name of the person.

Leave two line spaces and type your letter's greeting.

Leave two line spaces and type the body of your letter. Do not indent for paragraphs. Single space information within a paragraph and double space between paragraphs.

Leave two line spaces and type your closing.

Leave four line spaces and type your full name and title. On the next line type the name of your business.

Leave two line spaces and type "Enclosures" if your letter will include any enclosures.

Sign your letter. Your signature should appear in the space between the closing and your typed name.
