How to Locate My Old GED
Because colleges and employers often require either a high school diploma or GED, a misplaced transcript can jeopardize your future education and income. The GED, short for General Education Development, is a test that certifies you have achieved high school-level academic skills. It's important to retain your copy in case you need it for college applications or job interviews. If you have misplaced it however, don't worry. Tracking down a duplicate transcript is fast and simple.

Adult Education Centers or Schools

Consult the American Council on Education, or ACE, website. Go to the heading titled "Programs & Services" and select "GED Testing Services."

Choose "Locate Testing Center." Type in your current ZIP code to find the official test center nearest you.

Call or mail that center and request a copy of your GED transcript.
Military, Correctional Facilities or Overseas

Consult the ACE website. Select "GED Transcript Services," followed by "Request Transcript."

Check the chart on that page to confirm the date you took the test falls within the stated time frame.

Fill out the online GED transcript request form.
If Your GED Test Was Administered Outside of Listed Time Frames

Contact the GED administrator in the state where you took your test. Addresses and phone numbers are listed alphabetically by state on the ACE website.

Contact U.S. military personnel at the addresses listed on the ACE website. You may need to fill out a USAFI/GED Transcript Order Form, located at Dantes Examinations Programs website.

Request a copy of your GED transcript be mailed to you.
