How to Weld 316L Stainless Steel

According to MIM Forms, "316L stainless steel is commonly used in applications requiring high corrosion and heat resistance, toughness and long life." Add the ability to be polished easily and you have an attractive metal that is easy to work with. Composed mainly of 71 percent iron, 17 percent chromium and 12 percent nickle, 316L stainless steel is virtually non-magnetic. Welding with 316L is quite common. However, certain steps help to make the process easier.
