How to Put Clutch Shoes on an RC Car

The clutch takes the energy of the engine and delivers it to the wheels.

The clutch is responsible for delivering the strength of the engine to the RC vehicle's drivetrain. A well-constructed clutch can enhance your car's performance by giving it better traction and improved handling. Understanding how to properly install your clutch shoes will ensure premium RC performance, and reduce any risks for lost control or malfunctioning.

Things You'll Need

• 3 or 4 clutch shoes
• Clutch springs

Instructions

1. Insert the springs into each of the clutch shoes. Take care not to bend them too much as this will degrade their performance.

2. Install the first shoe onto any one of the metal pegs protruding from the clutch. Slide the shoe onto the peg with the trailing edge facing to the right.

3. Use the small flathead screwdriver to hold down the shoe spring, while using your thumb to press the shoe down into position. Pull the trailing edge of the shoe slightly away from the clutch nut to ensure a flush fit.
