How to Measure for a Sink Faucet
Sink faucets are available in several configurations. A "widespread" faucet has two handles detached from the spout. A "center set" faucet is configured as one unit, with the handles and spout attached via a base. There are mini-widespread faucets and single-stem faucets. All require different numbers of holes in the sink, spaced differently. Make sure the faucet and the sink will work together. Some sinks have holes drilled only for single-stem faucets, while others have three holes and can accommodate either widespread or center set. Note the holes in the sink. A sink with a single hole is made for single base and handle faucets. It can't be used with center-set or widespread faucets, which require two or three holes.

Measure the distance between the centers of the outside holes of a three-hole sink. Measure from the center of one outside hole to the center of the other outside hole.

Write down the measurement. This is the information you need to take with you when you shop for a faucet. If it is more than 4 inches, look for widespread faucets. If it is 4 inches, then a 4-inch center-set faucet will work with your bathroom sink.
