How to Open Caulk
Caulk is a building material used to seal joints such as the area around a window or door frame. This helps prevent water and air from leaking through. Caulk is made of substances like silicone and polyurethane, and is contained inside a tube. The tube is placed inside a caulking gun, and applied by placing the tip of the opened tube against the joint. Pull the plunger on the caulking gun back and drop the tube into the gun.

Pull the trigger repeatedly until the plunger comes into contact with the back of the tube of caulk.

Cut the nozzle of the tube along the bottom at a 45-degree angle with a utility knife.

Break the seal of the nozzle by inserting a screwdriver or nail into the tip.
