How to Stud ATV Tires
Driving an all-terrain vehicle in the winter creates problems with traction in ice and snow. Loss of traction can cause you to lose control of the ATV while driving and turning. Metal studs installed in the tires of an ATV allow the tires to grip in snow and ice. Self-tapping tire studs allows you to add winter driving traction to your ATV without removing the tire from the ATV wheel or taking it to a professional tire company, thus saving you money.

1
Move the ATV to a clean level surface. Place equally spaced paint marker dots on the surface of the raised portion of the rubber ATV tires. Roll the ATV to expose unreachable sections of the tires. Count the number of dots you placed on each tire.
-
2
Purchase enough tire studs to place one stud in each paint marker dot. Install the adapter supplied with the tire studs into the chuck of a screw gun.

3
Set the head of a tire stud in the end of the supplied adapter. Place the pointed tip of the stud on a white marker dot. Depress the trigger of the screw gun to thread the stud slowly into the tire.

Move along each tire until each white paint marker dot has a stud threaded over it. Roll the ATV when you need to access paint marker dots located on the bottom of the ATV tires.
