Broken Sofa Leg
A broken sofa leg may seem to spell disaster for a well-loved piece of family furniture. A crack in the leg makes the sofa unstable and injuries more likely. Repairing the leg at home may daunt some homeowners but it's a DIY project that only requires basic understanding of common tools and the mechanics of furniture repair. According to the home decor website Bluebird Gardens, homeowners who know how to glue and can tighten a clamp can easily repair furniture legs. Things You'll Need
- Masking tape
- Drill
- 2 fourpenny nails
- Diagonal cutters
- Furniture glue
- C-clamp

Turn the sofa over so the legs stick up in the air. Wrap the cracked area with masking tape.

Use diagonal clippers to cut the heads off two fourpenny nails, suggests the Accurate Building website. Using nails in addition to glue helps provide stability to the repaired joint.

Insert one nail into the drill as a bit and drill it into the broken, taped joint at a 90 degree angle to the joint, recommends Accurate Building. Repeat with the second nail.

Remove the tape from the broken joint.

Insert furniture glue into the broken joint. Push the pieces together until the glue oozes from the seams.

Fasten a C-clamp around the repaired joint, so the pieces fit firmly together. Allow the furniture glue to adhere for 24 to 48 hours.
