My Tek Steam Mop Stopped Working

The Tek Steam Mop is a home steam-cleaning machine designed for mopping hard floors, such as wood, tile and other hard surfaces. Often sold online or through television commercials, the mop does not use cleaning solution and only heats up water to create steam for cleaning. Chemical-free cleaning may be a popular choice for families with children or pets, or those with allergies or sensitivities. The mop includes a limited warranty, but individuals may want to troubleshoot the device prior to contacting the Home-Tek TV Company if the mop stops working. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Verify that the Tek steam mop is connected to a power supply. The power cord may have come loose at the mop connection or at the power outlet. Reset the household circuit breakers or fuse if needed.

    • 2

Turn off the Tek mop and remove the water tank. Fill with clean water to the fill mark and restore in the unit.

    • 3

Clean the mop, as lime scale may build up and prohibit proper functioning. Mix together 2/3 cup water and 1/3 cup vinegar. Pour the vinegar mixture into the water tank and plug into a power outlet. Wait a minute for the steam mop to heat up and then squeeze the cleaning trigger to dispense the vinegar mixture -- note that you can also use the dispensed vinegar mixture to clean the floor. When all the vinegar mixture is gone, fill the tank with water and squeeze the trigger until all of the water is dispensed. Repeat until there is no lingering scent of vinegar.
