How to Troubleshoot a GE Duet Dryer
GE Duet dryers are available in both an electric model and a gas model. Both models are manufactured by the Whirlpool Corporation for GE. Regardless of which GE Duet dryer model you own, troubleshooting any problems generally involves the same methods. In fact, you can troubleshoot on your own instead of calling for service on the dryer. Common problems with a GE Duet dryer can include failing to heat, failing to start, not heating effectively and making unusual noises during a drying cycle. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Check the breaker box or fuse box to see if a breaker was tripped or a fuse blown. If your dryer is not running or heating, this could be the problem. Replace the fuse or reset the breaker to fix the issue.
-
2
Inspect the drum edges for coins or other debris, if you are hearing odd noises. Overloading a dryer can also cause noises, which can be fixed by separating some of the laundry. Sometimes a GE Duet dryer that has not been used in a while will make noises when it is first started.

3
Restart the dryer or firmly hold down the "Start" button and then release it if the dryer won't start or if you are seeing error code "PF" or "L2."
-
4
Clean the lint screen if you are having a problem with the dryer heating or running. It should be cleaned after each drying cycle. If you have overloaded the dryer, it will also not heat properly. Correct this issue by removing some of the laundry.
-
5
Use only one fabric softener sheet per load to keep the dryer heating effectively. Using more than one can block the grille and result in ineffective heating.
-
6
Call a service technician if you have an error code that starts with an "E" or if you cannot solve your dryer problem on your own. Whirlpool Corporation representatives can give you the name of a certified technician in your area if you call them at 800-253-1301.
