Instructions

    • 1

Measure the width of the driveway or patio area. Chalk a short line at the center of the driveway close to the side of the house where the basketball goal will go so you have a focal point for lining up the mounting brackets when you get on the roof.

    • 2

Mark the holes where the screw will connect the brackets to the roof. Set the front of the brackets even with the edge of the roof or cutter. With a power drill, screw the bolts in the mounting brackets onto the roof. According to Basketball Manitoba, mounting brackets for rooftop basketball goals should be able to adjust to any pitch or surface face.

    • 3

Set the backboard onto the mounting brackets. Bolt holes on the backboard correspond with holes on the brackets. Select the height of the rim by sliding the backboard up or down. Once you decide on the height, drill the bolts through the backboard and into the corresponding holes on the brackets.

Screw the rim onto the backboard by fastening the approrpriate bolts into the corresponding holes. Then hook the net to the rim.

    • 5

Check the tightness of the brackets by pulling on each side of them to see if they are firmly attached to the roof and that the backboard is firmly attached to the brackets. Apply latex caulk to the bolts that connect the brackets to the roof. This will seal out moisture, protect the bolts from rusting and potentially prolong the life of the basketball goal.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use caution when working on a ladder or on top of a roof. Have someone hold the ladder and help hold the heavy brackets in place when you are attaching them to the roof.
