How to Remove the Window Lift Arm on a 94 S10 Blazer

How to Remove the Window Lift Arm on a 94 S10 Blazer thumbnail
It is good to have windows that operate before going off-road driving.

The window lift arms on a 1994 Chevrolet S10 Blazer connect the window regulators to the sash channels. The windows are raised and lowered on the sash channels by the operation of the window regulators. These may be either manually or electrically (power window) actuated. Obtain access to the window lift arms by removing the door trim panels and the watershield. You must replace the windows in the closed position while the window-operating parts are not in place.

  • Flat-bladed screwdriver
  • Philips-head screwdriver

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the negative cable from the battery using pliers, if you have power windows.

    • 2

Remove the trim frame that surrounds the door handle, using a flat-bladed screwdriver. Unscrew and remove the armrest mounting screws using a Philips-head screwdriver. Move the armrest toward the rear of the vehicle and remove it after disconnecting the electrical harness (power window). Remove the window crank (manual window) by using a small, flat-bladed screwdriver, or special tool, to take off the retaining spring.

    • 3

Pry the door trim panel partially off the door using a flat-bladed screwdriver; and then undo the two latches with your hand at the top of the panel and take the panel completely off. Remove the watershield completely, using a putty knife.

    • 4

Lower the window with your hands until the sash channel is in the door access hole. Remove the screw that holds the lift arm to the sash channel using a nut driver. Use the sash channel to lift the window fully closed and hold it in that position by attaching a strip of duct tape to the outside of the window, pulling over the top of the door, and attaching it to the inside of the window. This is easier with a helper.

    • 5

Remove the lower end of the lift arm from the window regulator by using a socket wrench to remove the bolt that holds it. Take the lift arm out of the door.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use care in removing the door trim panel retaining clips so as not to break them.

  • Do not puncture the watershield when removing it. It keeps water out of the vehicle.

  • Install a new window lift arm by reversing the above procedures.
