How to Remove Ink Stains From Khaki
You can remove ink stains from khaki with a first-aid product you may already have around. Khaki is light brown cotton or linen material generally worn as pants or shorts. Ink spills and broken pens can leave obvious spots on khaki garments. Ink that has not been set in by the heat of the dryer can usually be washed out completely. Things You'll Need
- Isopropyl alcohol (91 percent)
- Adjustable nozzle spray bottle
- Paper towels
- Stain pretreatment gel
- Bleach-alternative laundry detergent

Turn the garment inside out. Fill an empty spray bottle with isopropyl alcohol. Adjust the flow of the spray to a medium-heavy mist.

Fold two stacked paper towels in half. Place the folded towels on the backside of the ink stain. Pull the khaki material tight around the stain.

Spray the alcohol into the ink stain. Blot the stain with a dry paper towel. Repeat the spray-and-blot procedure until no more color comes out of the stain.

Remove and discard the paper towels from the back of the stain. Rinse the stain and surrounding area with cold water.

Apply stain pretreatment gel to both sides of the khaki material where the stain is located. Massage the gel into the fabric with your fingers. Wait for five minutes while the gel soaks in.

Wash the khakis in the washing machine with bleach-alternative detergent on the hottest water setting. Review the condition of the ink stain when the washer cycle completes. Repeat the alcohol, pretreatment gel and hot wash procedure until the stain is removed.

Tips & Warnings
Ink stains are much easier to get out when they are treated within minutes of the spill.
Add ½ cup to ¾ cup of household bleach to the medium-size washing machine load to lighten the color of the khakis and any remaining ink stains.

You can also just but the garment in milk, soak it overnight and then put it in the washer. That removed an orange ink spot from my white shirt.
