Instructions

    • 1

Pop the Maxima's hood. Ask your helper to stay in the front seat and be ready to turn the ignition on and off when asked.

    • 2

Disconnect the gas line from the fuel injector using a screwdriver. The fuel injector can be found at the top of the car's motor. It runs all the way back to the Maxima's fuel tank.

    • 3

Ask your helper to quickly turn the ignition on and off. You should see gas running through the gas line. If you do not see this, the fuel filter may be at fault.

    • 4

Trace the gas line from the engine compartment until you can see the Nissan's fuel filter. Disconnect the line entering the filter from the gas tank using the sink wrench set. Ask your helper to turn the ignition on and off. If gas begins to flow, the fuel filter needs to be changed. If gas does not begin to flow, then the pump in the gas tank will need to be replaced.
