How to Build Your Dream Kitchen Online

Use free online tools to design your dream kitchen from home.

Design your dream kitchen online to speed up the remodeling process. Using the online kitchen design tools offered by some of the major brands saves you time by allowing you to print out your design and shopping list to take with you. The tools automatically put the part numbers and cost directly on your printout so there are no surprises when you arrive at the store. Making your design choices online also eliminates the stress of having to make decisions on the fly while at the store. The design tools offered by Ikea and Electrolux are the most user friendly.

Instructions

Ikea

1. Navigate to the Ikea kitchen planner installation page (see Resource section).

2. Click on the "Install" link to install the special plug-in required to use the kitchen planner tool.

3. Click the "Continue" button once the installation is complete. Some browsers, like Firefox, may require you to restart the browser. Click the "restart" button and the browser will automatically restore the navigation window with the plug-in installed correctly. Click the "Start" button to begin the design process.

4. Click on the desired floor plan shape in the bottom pane. Enter the wall dimensions in the right pane.

5. Click on the other floor plan elements under the "Room Layout" heading in the left navigation pane. These include doors, windows, fixtures and obstacles. Click on the navigation item. Select the desired object from the bottom pane. Click on the item in the floor plan and drag it to the desired location. Use the adjustment handles around the perimeter of each object to adjust its dimensions and orientation.

6. Click on the "Kitchen" heading to select the kitchen elements you desire. Choices include items such as built-in cabinets, appliances and accessories. Click on the desired items from the bottom pane. Position and adjust the items as described in the previous step.

7. Click on the "Dining" and "Decorate" headings and perform the same process to select and position the desired items.

8. Click the "Print" button. Choose to print the current view or all of the design views and shopping list. Click "Print" to print the selected items.

Electrolux

1. Navigate to the Electrolux Dream Kitchen design tool (see Resource section).

2. Click on the "Build It Now" button to open the design tools panel.

3. Click on one of the four kitchen types under the "Choose Kitchen" heading.

4. Click on one of the items under the "Choose Style" heading. Click on the desired color or model for your chosen selection to update the picture.

5. Repeat the above process for each of the items in your dream kitchen.

6. Click "File," then "Print" on your browser menu to print the project when you have finished.
