How to Create Room Games
On days when school is out and parents are watching their children, coming up with entertainment can be very difficult. Rainy days can be especially challenging since the children are confined to the house. You can create room games to play that require few materials. To help pass the time on a rainy day, create a fortune telling game. This game caters to children ages five and up and can keep them busy for hours.
Instructions
-
Making the Paper Shape
-
1
Fold the right corner of the paper (the shorter way) across to the left side of the paper, and make it crease. You create a sideways triangle shape on top and rectangle shape at the bottom.
-
2
Cut the rectangle shape out so that you are left with a square piece of paper.
-
-
3
Measure the midpoint of the paper with a ruler from the outer edge and make a mark there.
-
4
Fold each of the four corners into the center of the paper and smooth them down.
-
5
Turn the paper over. Fold each of the four corners into the center.
Coloring The Game
-
6
Fold the square in half. Then open it and turn it the other way and fold it in half again.
-
7
Turn the paper over to the side with four squares. Stick your thumb and pointer finger of each hand in the squares and bring it together.
-
8
Color all four of the squares with a different color crayon or marker.
-
9
Open the square to see eight triangles. Number the triangles one through eight.
-
10
Open up the triangle flaps and write fortunes on all four.
How To Play
-
11
Stick your thumbs and pointer fingers into the squares.
-
12
Ask the other player what color he wants to choose.
-
13
Spell out the color by moving the fortune teller in both directions that it can move. So if the color is blue, spell out b-l-u-e.
-
14
Ask your partner to choose another from the open options. Then move the fortune teller in the two directions to the count of the number that was chosen. If the player chooses five then the fortune teller counts 1-2-3-4-5.
-
15
Ask the player to pick a number again and this time open the flap by the number she chose. Then read her the fortune.
