Holiday wreaths make for festive outdoor and indoor decorations. You can create your own wreath for just dollars using scraps of felt or fleece you may already have, or purchased inexpensively from a craft store. Choose green and red felt or fleece for a traditional Christmas look, orange, red and gold for an autumn wreath, or opt for a variety of colors to create a wreath that works for any season or coordinates with your home decor.
Things You'll Need
- Felt or fleece scraps
- Heavy duty denim or leather needle
- Craft wire (18 to 21 gauge)
Cut your fleece or felt into 1-inch squares. The number of squares you cut depends on how large you want your wreath to be. For an 8-inch wreath, you may need around 100 squares. For quicker cutting, double up your felt, and cut several squares at a time.
Puncture the center of each square with a leather or denim needle.
Run the wire through the hole in each square. Twist the wire at one end so the squares don't fall off.
Form the wire into a circle once all the squares are threaded onto it.
Twist the two ends of wire together into a loop to create a hanger and your wreath is complete.
