How to Cut White Marble
When cutting white marble you have a few options available for tools and cutting methods. Using a wet saw is a streamlined way to cut marble tiles for use. You can make straight cuts using a wet saw and other types for curved edges. Wet saws work using a constant stream of water during the cutting process to reduce the amount of heat produced by the cutting blade. This allows you to make precise cuts without overheating the saw or damaging the marble. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Decide on the size of the cuts you need to make for the marble you are working with. If you are cutting sections for tiles, depending on the size you may need a bigger workspace and different saw types. Rent a wet saw that will allow you to make the needed cuts -- a larger saw will be useful in making longer straight cuts and the thickness of the marble you are cutting may require a table saw setup.
-
2
Place your work table in an open area outdoors. Set the saw on top of your table and gather the marble that you will be cutting and place it nearby.

3
Assemble the wet saw components such as the water tray, hose and water pump. Fill the water tray and bucket with water and place the water pump inside. Set the water bucket in a space that is in a good line of sight to so that you are able to monitor the water level.
-
4
Test the saw to make sure you have properly connected it and that it is running properly. Turn off the saw and set it aside. Measure the tile for cutting and mark the places you will need to cut with a pencil.
-
5
Put on your safety goggles and gear. Pick up your first marble piece to cut and position yourself at the front of the saw.
-
6
Set your first marble piece on your table and line up the blade with the first cut line. Turn on the saw and carefully guide the tile using both hands to cut along the first line. Guide the tile to the blade with a firm pressure but do not force or push too fast to avoid mistakes in cuts or cracking of the marble.
-
7
Continue to make the cuts for each of your tile pieces. Refill the wet saw water tray as you work to prevent running out of water, which is needed to keep the marble cool during cutting.
-
8
Cut corners following a similar process. Guide the tile piece into the blade along the first cut line to the point it intersects with the line to create the corner point. Pull tile back to you away from the blade.
-
9
Turn the tile piece to the corresponding intersecting line and guide it back to the blade along that new line to the intersection point and cut through. Turn off your saw and remove the cut pieces from the table.

Tips & Warnings
A standard marble tile is usually 12 by 12 inches.
Due to the use of water in the machine an outdoor workspace will be ideal.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry when working with the saw as it can easily be caught up in the machine.
When guiding the tile for cutting be aware of the placement of your hands and keep them away from the blade.
