Can you name the baby animal in this photo? Do so in a fun baby shower game.

You can liven up any baby shower with fun games themed around just about anything having to do with babies. One popular animal-themed shower game is called the Cow-Calf Game. Also referred to as "The Baby Animal Game," this lively and educational game challenges participants to match the names of baby animals and their mothers. For example, a cow's baby is called a calf and a dog's baby is called a puppy.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide on a list of animals you will use in your game. You can choose from well-known animals, such as cats and kittens, to exotic animals, such as llama and cria.

    • 2

Distribute pencils and animal mother name lists to each participant (no peeking until everyone has her list!) and set the timer for two minutes. Participants must fill in as many baby animal names as they can in the allotted time period.

    • 3

Read through your answer list and ask participants to tally up the number of correct responses they have. In the event of a tie, have a really exotic tie-breaker mother/baby name set aside. For example, a baby wombat is called a joey.

    • 4

Award a prize to the winner, if you choose. Fun prizes for this game include a stuffed animal toy, an animal print scarf or journal, or a box of animal cookies.
