How to Put a Needle in a Singer Sewing Machine 1120
Changing needles regularly on your 1120 Singer sewing machine is necessary to keep the machine running properly. When your sewing machine has a dull, bent or barbed needle or the needle breaks while you are sewing, it will affect the efficiency of your sewing and the finished project. Before you purchase a replacement needle, determine what type of needle you will need. Some needles are made for certain projects or fabrics specifically. The 1120 Singer sewing machine calls for a 2.0- to a 6.0-gauge needle depending on the type of sewing you'll be doing, as stated in the owner's manual. The 1120 Singer sewing machine can use one or two needles.

1
Loosen the needle by unscrewing the small wing nut that holds the needle in place on the needle bar clamp. The nut is just above the needle on the shaft. Hold the needle while unscrewing the nut to prevent the needle from dropping into the bobbin area of the sewing machine. Remove the old or broken needle. Take note of which way the needle was placed in the shaft. The scarf of the needle needs to be facing backward on the 1120 Singer sewing machine. The scarf of the needle is the flat area just above the thread hole.
