How to Put a Lexus LX470 Into 4-Wheel Drive
The LX470 was a luxury sport-utility vehicle sold by Toyota under the Lexus nameplate. The LX470, a four-wheel-drive vehicle, was sold from 1998 to 2007, when it was replaced by the Lexus LX570. You can use the four-wheel-drive system if you need additional traction during specific driving conditions. The two four-wheel-drive modes are four-wheel-drive high and four-wheel-drive low. Each has a specific purpose.

Check for traffic and bring the Lexus LX470 to a stop. Grasp the gear shift knob an move it down to "N." Continue holding your foot against the brake pedal to prevent the Lexus from rolling.

Inspect the gear shift knob panel. Look to the left of it to find the four-wheel-drive shift handle.

Grasp the four-wheel-drive shift handle and move it up into "H" if you want to use four-wheel-drive high mode. This is best for minor to moderately slippery surfaces, such as sleet or light snow.

Grasp the four-wheel-drive shift knob and move it down to "L" if you want to use four-wheel-drive low mode. This mode is best for off-road driving. When in low mode, keep your engine rpms below 3,000. Otherwise, you may damage the drivetrain.

Remove your foot from the brake and being driving in four-wheel drive.

Repeat the process to return to two-wheel-drive mode. Move the four-wheel drive shift knob to "N."
