A common problem with garbage disposals is objects that jam the disposal mechanism and keep the motor from running. The jammed garbage disposal could result in the motor overheating and the garbage disposal breaking down. InSinkErator designed the Badger 1 with a tool to help when you troubleshoot a jamming problem with your disposal. The InSinkErator Badger 1 includes the tool you need to clear the jam.
Things You'll Need
Turn off the InSinkErator Badger 1 and the tap water.
Insert the supplied self-service wrench into the hole on the bottom of the garbage disposal unit. Turn it to the left and right, repeatedly, until you can make one full revolution with the wrench.
Insert tongs into the drain and pull out any objects still trapped in the garbage disposal unit. Wait approximately five minutes to allow the motor to cool.
Press the reset button on the bottom of the InSinkErator Badger 1. The reset button is red and located next to the hole in the center of the disposal.
