How to Design Birthday Invitations
Sending out hand-designed birthday invitations makes them personal and shows that you care. If you have all you supplies ready and available, the designing process does not take much time and can be very enjoyable. Even children can do the designing with little help from adults. Designing your own invitations saves money on premade purchased or printed invitations. Hand-designed invitations are handmade crafts. They are often saved and kept as unique and cherished memories.

1
Fold one piece of paper for each invited guest and make sure it will fit inside the envelope you have. Cut a little of the edges around each piece of paper into a decorative shape of your choice with scissors. Make the invitation curvy, circular, or pointy with jagged edges.
-
2
Write the invitation text on the inside of each card with colored markers. Include a salutation to each guest. Notify them that they are invited to the celebration. Write details of the party like the address, the attire, the date, time and the theme of the party if there is one.

3
Decorate the inside and outside of each card with markers around the text. Draw birthday images like cakes, balloons or candles. Draw images of things that suit the birthday celebrant or that relate to the theme of the party. For example, if it is a Hawaiian luau party, draw flowers, leis, tropical fruit, palm trees, the sun or the beach.
-
4
Color in the drawings you created with crayons, colored pencils or paint. Use different tones of the same color to create shading and depth. Let the paint dry on each card.
-
5
Draw a thin decorative line of glue somewhere on each card. Border the text, draw the candle flame or outline a drawing that would be shiny like the sun. Dust a small amount of glitter over the glue and let dry. When the glue has dried, shake off the excess glitter.
-
6
Carefully place each dried card into an envelope, address it, stamp it and mail it.
