How to Change the Name of Your Group on DeviantART

A social network site for artists, deviantART was founded in August 2000 as a place for artists of all skill levels and genres to show and promote their work. This peer community has over 13 million members and has millions of unique visitors a month. The "Groups" feature on deviantART is designed to allow members who have the same interests to get to know each other. You may want to change the name of a group to make it more accurate or descriptive and attract more members. Unfortunately, there is no way to simply change the name of a group once it is already established, but you can start a new group with the preferred name.

  • Select a name for your group; only letters, numbers and hyphens can be used in group names.

  • Go to the "Make a Group" page at deviantART. Enter the new name, a few sentences of at least 50 characters about the group, the group's location and the group focus. Submit the information and wait for deviantART administration to approve the group's creation.

  • Invite members to the new group. Let members of the old group know that you're replacing the old group with the new one you just created. Add deviations, blogs and other items to your new group's page to keep it fresh and exciting for both old and new members.

Tips & Warnings

  • Starting a new group will not transfer deviations, members, posts and other items from the old group. Select a group name carefully so you won't have to do this work again.
  • Regular members can only administrate a maximum of three groups at a time, premium members can administrate up to ten groups.
