How to Install iLO

The Hewlett-Packard, or HP, Integrated Light-Out, or iLO, is a standard component for HP ProLiant servers, and with the feature you can remotely manage server activity. For example, with the iLO enabled on your computer, you can use a Web browser to activate the iLO component and then you perform specific tasks, such as powering down a server from a remote location. To install the iLO, you must configure the iLO settings and enable the iLO advanced functionality.

  • Restart you computer, and then press the "F8" on your keyboard before the login screen appears. The iLO configuration utility will then run.

  • Enter in a value user name and password for the "Configure iLO Settings" field and then press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. Write down the iLO IP address.

  • Select the "Exit" option, and then your operating system will start up on your computer. Open a Web browser application, and enter the iLO IP address into the "Address Bar" of the Web browser.

  • Enter your user name and password, and then click the "Administration" tab. Click the "Licensing" option from the left navigation pane.
