How to Fit Polypropylene Pipe
Polypropylene pipe is used specifically for industrial applications involving corrosive materials. It can be used in temperatures up to 150 degrees Fahrenheit during continuous pressure and up to 180 degrees Fahrenheit for gravity flow conditions. It is the lightest of all the thermoplastics and is very resistant to many different types of acids. When installing polypropylene pipe the most important step is to fit the pipes together. Measure the diameter of the pipes that are being fit together and record the measurements. This is important because the proper welding time will vary depending on the diameter of the pipes being fitted together.

Clean the end of the pipes with a rag and a knife to remove any burrs and other debris. Mark on the inside of the pipe how deep the other pipe will be fitted in. Draw a line with a black marker so the spot is known.

Turn on the electric welder. Warm up the two parts at the exact same time with the welder. For a 16-20mm pipe, heat for five seconds and for 25mm pipe, heat seven seconds. Heat eight seconds for a 30mm pipe and 12 seconds for a 40mm pipe.

Turn off the electric welder and slide the two pieces together. The pieces will fit because they are hot. Slide one piece into the other until reaching the desired mark and hold in place for 30 seconds until the pipes are cured and properly welded together.

Repeat the same process for other pieces and cut them to size with a hacksaw if necessary to fit together at the proper lengths.
