Instructions

    • 1

Place a piece of plastic sheeting on your kitchen or laundry room floor to keep the floor from getting wet. Place two buckets on the sheeting.

    • 2

Mix 1 gallon of cool water and 1 cup of ammonia in a bucket. Wear latex gloves to keep the mixture off of your hands. Stir the mixture with a scrub brush.

    • 3

Remove the nylon curtains, if you haven't done so already, from your shower. Place one of the curtains on top of an empty bucket so the dye stain is directly over the bucket's opening.

    • 4

Use clothespins to secure the curtain to the bucket. Pour the ammonia mixture slowly over the stain to flush the dye from the nylon fabric.

    • 5

Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each hair dye stain present on the nylon curtains.

    • 6

Place the curtains in your kitchen sink and rinse the fabric under cool running water and then place the curtains in your washing machine.

Add 1 cup of laundry detergent to the machine, cold water and set the machine on a "Regular" wash cycle.

    • 7

Dry the curtains on a clothesline, drying rack or in your home's dryer using a "Cool" setting.
