How to Do Up the Chin Strap on Marushin Helmets

Marushin is not a name commonly heard by American motorcycle riders. However, the Japanese manufacturer's helmets have been used on roads and race tracks around the world since 1958. This pedigree can make the helmets almost exotic, but donning a Marushin helmet is not unlike any of the more familiar brands. Depending on the exact model of helmet you choose, a traditional D-ring chin strap or a ratcheting quick-release strap may be used to secure the helmet to your head. Using either method is not difficult and can be accomplished within seconds once you've learned how to do it.

Instructions

  1. D-Ring Chin Straps

    • 1

Bring both chin straps together below your chin.

    • 2

Pass the longer strap on the right side of the helmet through the metal rings on the left strap. Pull the strap firmly against your chin, but not too tightly.

    • 3

Loop the long strap over the first ring, then pass it under the second ring. Pull the strap tight.

    • 4

Button the remaining length of the right strap to the snap button on the base of the left strap

    Quick-Release Straps

    • 5

Bring both chin straps together below your chin.

    • 6

Open the quick-release clip's latch, positioned at the end of the left strap. Pass the longer right strap through the quick-release clip. Pull the stap firmly against your chin.

    • 7

Close the quick-release clip's latch to secure the chin strap.

    • 8

Button the remaining length of the right strap to the snap button on the base of the left strap

Tips & Warnings

  • Practice strapping and unstrapping your helmet with it sitting on your lap until you are accustomed to fastening the chin strap without the need to see what you are doing.
