How to Reboot a Linksys Phone Adapter Remotely

Save

Linksys phone adapters are networked phones that look and function similarly to traditional land-line phones. Unlike traditional land-line phones, however, Linksys devices connect to a network and communicate with VoIP. As networked devices, Linksys phone adapters have remote administration Web pages that you can access from a Web browser, although the reboot option is hidden.

  • Determine the phone adapter’s IP address, if you don’t already know it. On a phone adapter with an LCD display, press the “Menu,” “9” and “2” keys to read the IP address off the display. On a phone adapter without an LCD display, press the “*” key four times, punch in “110#” using the keypad and listen to the IP address.

  • Type “http://[IP Address]/admin/reboot” into your Web browser’s address bar, replacing “[IP Address]” with the IP address of the phone adapter. Press “Enter.” For example, if the phone adapter's IP address is "192.168.0.123," type "http://192.168.0.123/admin/reboot" into the address bar, and then press "Enter."

  • Type the administrator password into the password prompt window that appears, and then press “Enter.”

  • Click the “Reboot” button on the Web page.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can only reboot a Linksys phone adapter when it’s idle, as it won’t reboot if someone’s currently using it.
