How to Increase the Volume of an MPG

MPG is a movie file type. If you can't hear the audio because it's too quiet while playing, you can increase the volume for your MPG through the native video program Windows Media Player. If this is still too quiet, you can further increase the volume for your MPG file by using native sound controls found within the Windows operating system.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on your MPG file. Select "Open with Windows Media Player."

    • 2

Click on the volume slider in Windows Media Player and slide it to the right until you can hear your MPG file properly. The slider is found just to the right of the large play button located in the bottom middle of the program.

    • 3

Click "Start" in Windows if the volume is still too quiet for the MPG. Select "Control Panel."

    • 4

Double-click "Sounds and Devices." Click on the slider for "Device volume" and drag it to the right until you can hear your MPG file.

Tips & Warnings

  • Increasing the volume for your system in the control panel will make all the sounds on your computer louder.
