Creating an MSN talk bot can be accomplished using IRC-based software.

A talk bot is an instant-messaging computer program designed to replicate the sound of a live person speaking, officially referred to as Artificial Conversational Entities. The device is used for many online and Internet conversations, from help chats to online question-answering services. The talk bot systems scan responses and queries from people for keywords. Then respond to the query based on what information was received.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a free account on MSN by choosing and registering a screen name for the MSN talk bot. Study basic script creation, if you are unfamiliar with how to create simple program scripts, on a website such as Digital Inspiration.

    • 2

Choose a talk bot creation program, such as the mIRC chat client (see "Resources"). Register at the bot creation program website. Confirm the email information to validate the account. Download and install the software. Read and view the tutorial on how to use the bot creation program to create the talk bot.

    • 3

Click the appropriate link to begin using the bot creation software. Follow all the instructions as indicated. For example, for mIRC, press the keys for "Alt" and "R" simultaneously. Watch for the window pop up where you may type the appropriate scripting commands that are needed to create the talk bot.

    • 4

Consider finding, downloading and installing a software program, such as an AI Chat Bot program like jabberwacky (see "Resources"). Most software for chat and talk bots have servers that run software like BitlBee (see "Resources"), designed to connect the necessary IRC attributes to chat networks like MSN, AOL, Twitter, ICQ and Yahoo. Read the about and tutorial sections as needed and follow all instructions.

    • 5

Ensure that Windows Live Messenger is installed and operating properly. Get the add-on Messenger Live Plus from Yuna Software (see "Resources"). Configure the Messenger Plus Live settings after running Windows Live Messenger.

    • 6

Visit the program files directory to find the "Messenger Plus! Live\Scripts\AutoTalker\Talkers" folder. View the "Auto Answer" script in the program files for AutoAnswer.INI to find editable samples. Choose from more than 25 samples to configure the bot. Use Notepad to edit for the "AutoTalker" script as needed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Find out about and consider how Novaconceptions.com can use digital circuit design techniques with microcontroller programming and PCB design to create highly specialized bots that work with MSN.

  • Since the bot program you use will be on outside sockets, it will not be supported by Microsoft from a technical standpoint.

  • Ensure that the talk bot you create is not offensive and does not break any of the terms of service rules for MSN, or there is a risk that you could be held liable.
