How to Make Purim Gift Wrapping
Purim is one of the most festive holidays celebrated in the Jewish tradition. It commemorates a victory over oppression that is documented in the book of Esther. Because the date for Purim is based on an ancient calendar, it is not fixed on the Western calender, but falls near March 15 each year. Purim is celebrated with acts of generosity, especially sharing gifts of food and drink. It is a colorful holiday complete with costumes, libations and joyous parties. Gift wrap made for Purim should reflect the holiday's cheer.

1
Cover your work surface with a protective cloth.
-
2
Lay out a length of plain paper appropriate for wrapping gifts, such as white freezer paper, rolled craft paper, a solid-colored commercial wrapping paper or brown packaging paper. Tape each end of the paper down to keep it flat as you work.

3
Apply paint, glitter, ink, markers or crayons to the paper and create a random, colorful design that looks festive and fun. Since Purim is celebrated in the spring, consider using a variety of spring colors. You might also draw or paint a series of graggers (noisemakers popular at Purim) or Hamantashen (a traditional triangular cookie baked for the holiday). Let the paint or other decoration dry for 2 to 24 hours, depending on your medium.

4
Write "Happy Purim" in any blank spaces on the paper with a bold marker. Remove the tape from the ends of the paper. Roll and store it as you would store any other wrapping paper.
