How to Calibrate a CRO

Save

A CRO is a Cathode-Ray Oscilloscope, a device used in laboratories to measure voltage signals over a range of frequencies. Calibration for the unit ensures that the readings provided are accurate when measured against a universal standard. This helps to prove that your experiments are conducted in full accord with the scientific method. Calibrate your CRO before every use.

  • Turn on the power switch to the Cathode-Ray Oscilloscope.

  • Turn the variable sensitivity knob on the CRO to the full clockwise position. This is the calibration position.

  • Turn the sweep time knob to the full clockwise position, calibrating this as well.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always ask before recalibrating the Cathode-Ray Oscilloscope, as you might be interrupting someone else's work.
