Instructions

    • 1

Double-click the desktop icon for the bitmap editing software (see "Resources") to launch it, or click "Start," then "Programs," and select the bitmap editing software from the programs list.

    • 2

Click "File," then "Open." Navigate to the folder where the picture you wish to edit is stored, then click "Open."

    • 3

Click "New Layer" in the "Layers" box. Click "Transparent" and name the layer "Hearts."

    • 4

Select the "Path" tool from the toolbar.

    • 5

Select the new layer if it is not already selected, and use the path tool to create a four-sided polygon on the "Hearts" layer.

    • 6

Pull the anchors on the path nodes to shape the path into a heart.

    • 7

Click "Foreground Color" and select the color you want the heart to be.

    • 8

Click "Paint Along Path" to create a brush stroke along the heart-shaped path.

    • 9

Click "Fill," then click inside the heart to fill it with the color you selected. At this point, you should have a heart drawn on the "Hearts" layer.

    • 10

Select the "Path" tool, press "Alt," and click and drag the heart-shaped path to move it. Apply stroke and fill in any color you want.

    • 11

Click "File," then "Save As." Save the picture with the hearts under a different file name to avoid copying over the original.

Tips & Warnings
