The HTH pool vacuum connects to your skimmer to use its pressure to suction up dirt and debris from the bottom of your pool. It consists of three basic parts: a hose, telescopic hose and vacuum head. Assembly is required before using the vacuum. HTH recommends using the vacuum when closing and opening the pool, but it can also be used throughout the season to keep dirt and other sediment buildup to a minimum.
Turn the pool filter on and attach the HTH vacuum head to the swimming pool vacuum hose, using the clear vinyl adapters in between to fit the pieces together. Connect the vacuum head to the telescopic pole. Once assembled, submerge the vacuum head in the water and connect the vacuum assembly to the skimmer. Place the cuff end of the hose over the water return valve first until bubbles no longer come out of the vacuum head. Then connect the hose to the drain hole on the skimmer.
Vacuum the pool bottom, when opening the pool, after you use the leaf skimmer to remove surface debris. Clean the pool walls with a wall brush and turn on the filter pump.
Vacuum the pool bottom, when closing the pool, after testing and adjusting the chemicals in the pool and after running the filter for 24 to 48 hours beforehand. Use test strips available from your HTH pool dealer for testing the pool water. Adjust the pH to between 7.2 and 7.6. Consult with your pool dealer or a pool supply store to find out which specific chemicals to use and how to apply them.
Run the vacuum head over the pool bottom, making several passes, until all dirt and other sediment is removed from the pool.
