Instructions

    • 1

Provide an assortment of basic ice cream flavors, such as vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Be sure to forgo the fancy ice creams for basic flavors that let the sauces and toppings shine. Offer several frozen yogurt options for guests who would rather build a low-fat sundae. Store the ice cream in ice-filled coolers to keep it from melting throughout the event or from getting too frozen to scoop in the freezer. Wrap the ice cream containers in plastic bags to keep the cardboard from getting soggy as the ice melts.

    • 2

Place several ice cream scoops in glasses of hot water to make the scooping process easier. Let guests choose between an assortment of ice cream sundae glasses and waffle cone bowls as the container for their sundaes. Set out spoons for the guests to use, both regular-sized and spoons with long handles to reach the bottom of tall sundae glasses.

    • 3

Set up a sauce bar on a separate table away from the ice cream station. Include bottles of chocolate sauce and honey, jars of caramel and marshmallow toppings and a selection of fruit purees, such as strawberry, raspberry, pineapple and mango.

    • 4

Create a third station for the sprinkle-on toppings.Include fresh fruit and berries, sprinkles and cinnamon-toasted oatmeal. Also set out the malted milk powder as an unexpected sprinkle for guests who want to give their sundaes an extra kick. Include the whipped cream and maraschino cherries at this station for the guests who are ready to complete their sundaes.

    • 5

Create a mixing station in between the ice cream station and the sprinkle-on topping station. Place the marble slab and ice cream paddles next to the chopped nuts, crushed candy bars and crumbled cookies. Encourage guests to spice up their plain ice cream flavor by mixing toppings into their ice cream before building their sundaes.
