Learn Spanish at the office on your lunch break.

Learning to speak Spanish can help improve your communication skills and add to your list of qualifications for job applications. If you have a busy schedule, learning Spanish online is one way to acquire a second language on your own time. There are a number of ways you can go about learning Spanish online.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a website online to sign up for lessons. Some sites to consider include "StudySpanish.com", "OnlineSpanish.org" and "RosettaStone.com". Take note of what each site offers with regards to lessons and the resources they provide for learners, such as online one-on-one tutoring or video instructors, and select a site based on your specific learning style and needs.

    • 2

Set a weekly schedule for your Spanish learning. For example, look at your work schedule and home schedule and try to set an hour a day or a couple hours three days a week to dedicate to learning Spanish online. If you have kids for example, this can be at night after the kids have gone to bed, or even on your lunch break from work.

    • 3

Begin your Spanish lessons and stick with them. If you miss a day of learning plan to set aside a little more time with your next lesson to help you catch up on what you missed. The trouble with learning online is that you control your schedule, therefore it is up to you to stick with it and not get behind on your lessons.

    • 4

Use what you learn in each lesson in your everyday speaking. For example, if you learn basics like names for household items, after the lesson try and refer to these items in Spanish when working around the house. Incorporating what you've learned into your everyday life will make it more memorable in your brain.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check out community colleges in your area and read their course catalogs to see if any offer Spanish courses that can be taken online. Finding a local online course can give you the added benefit of possibly having an instructor or tutor you can meet with face-to-face should you have difficulty with any of the subject matter.

  • Purchase a language learning computer program to use along with your online learning. You can find programs at many bookstores and computer software stores.
