How to Make Tattoo Inks Out of Ashes

Create your own tattoo ink to home tattoo.

Create homemade tattoo ink from ashes for a unique tattoo. Typically, the ink made from ashes is dark gray or black. Use ashes from wood or paper produce the best results. Homemade tattoo ink cannot be stored as long as commercial tattoo ink and works best if it is used immediately.

Things You'll Need

• 1 cup ashes
• Blender
• Vodka
• Airtight container
• Clean towel
• Soap

Instructions

1. Clean your storage container. Wash the container with soap, hot water and a sponge. Dry the container with a freshly washed towel.

2. Pour the ashes into the blender. Add about 1 tbsp. vodka.

3. Blend the ashes at a medium speed for about 1 hour.

4. Examine the mixture. It should be the consistency of slush. If it is too thick, add about 1 tsp. vodka and blend for another 10 minutes. If it is too thin, add about 1/4 cup ashes.

5. Pour the tattoo ink into the clean storage container. Press the lid to the container so that it is airtight. Store the ink in a dark place or use it immediately.
