How to Send Email Campaigns From a Database
Email campaigns are simply marketing campaigns handled over the Internet. A database of email addresses is required in order to launch an email campaign. The addresses should be from your current customers or prospective customers, and should be from people who have agreed to receive emails from you or your business. You can use a variety of email clients to distribute your emails and track how recipients respond to your messages. Both paid and free email campaign services are available.

1
Sign up for an email campaign service. Enter your company information including your full name, company name, address, email address and phone number. You will need to add your credit card information to cover the subscription costs, which are often simply a small fee plus a few pennies per email; in other words, you're charged based on the number of emails you send each month.
-
2
Log in to your email campaign service account. Click your "Contacts" page.
-
-
3
Click the option to "Add Contacts." Browse your computer files for your email address book database. Commonly accepted file formats include iCalendar (.ics), vCalendar (.vcs), or vCard (.vcf). Spreadsheet files are usually accepted as well or your contacts from Outlook, though you must convert them first to a csv, or comma-separated value, file.
-
4
Select the database you want to upload and click "Save." You can now send emails to this new online contact database using your email campaign server.
Desktop Email Client
-
5
Open your desktop email client.
-
6
Click "New" to open a new email. Enter the email addresses of your intended recipients in the "BCC," or Blind Carbon Copy, field. It allows you to send one email to a large group of recipients while hiding the actual email addresses, thereby protecting their privacy and your mailing list.
-
7
Enter the email campaign message into the body of the email and click "Send." Depending on the size of your email database, you may find that you are unable to send your campaign through your desktop email, as your Internet server may have a maximum limit.

Tips & Warnings
The maximum number of email recipients varies in desktop email clients and Internet servers that handle desktop email clients. Break up your email database into small lists of less than 50 addresses to ensure the successful delivery of your message.
