Webroot provides Internet security for home computer users and businesses. The company offers several products including a spyware blocking and removal product and anti-virus protection with a firewall. When purchasing a Webroot product, customers are automatically signed up for auto-renewal. Auto-renewal automatically charges the credit or debit card registered to your account when your subscription period ends. If you no longer want to use Webroot, you can close your account. Closing the account can prevent future billing.
Contact Webroot customer service at 866-612-4268. As of January 2011, customer service is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. You can also reach customer service on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.
Listen to the recorded greeting. Press "1" when prompted to speak with a representative regarding your account.
Provide the customer service representative with your name and the registered email address. You will also be required to provide the last four-digits of the credit or debit card you used when registering for Webroot.
Inform the customer service representative that you want to close your account. You may be asked why you are choosing to cancel the account.
Ask the representative for a confirmation number of the cancellation. Write down the number and store it in a secure location.
Tips & Warnings
- If you want to keep your Webroot account, but do not want to participate in the auto-renewal program, you can submit an online opt-out form.
- You can opt to uninstall the Webroot program after closing your account. Access your computer's control panel and click "Uninstall a Program." Click on Webroot and select "Uninstall" in the top menu.
