How to Report Bad Gas Pumps in Texas

Save

Your vehicle sputtered and stalled on the highway even though you just stopped at the station and filled the fuel tank. You may have just been the victim of gas pump fraud. More than 65,000 gas pumps are checked each year by inspectors employed by the Texas Department of Agriculture. Inspectors test both quantity and quality of fuel received at the pump. Texas holds business owners accountable for faulty gas pumps and encourages anyone suspecting fuel fraud to call or go online to file a complaint.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with Internet connection
  • Phone
  • Call 800-835-5832 to report a faulty Texas gas pump or file a complaint. The Texas Department of Agriculture will send an inspector to test the gas pump and begin an investigation.
