1
Paint the walls a sky blue color. Use a large paint brush and paint it an even color all over. This is the background of the picture of the sky.
-
2
Mix white paint with a glaze. The mixture should be four parts of glaze to one part of white paint. For example, mix together one cup of glaze with one-fourth cup white paint. Once mixed thoroughly, pour into a paint tray.

3
Dampen a piece of sponge with water. Wring it out thoroughly. Dab into the paint and glaze mixture.
-
4
Dab the sponge on the walls to create the clouds. Start by creating a semi-straight line for each of the clouds. Dab paint above that line while turning and twisting the sponge. This creates variations and texture. The clouds should not appear as perfect circles or all the same shape.
-
5
Add more paint to the sponge. Begin dabbing the sponge toward the center of each cloud. This part of the cloud should look denser. Do the same thing for each of the clouds. Make sure that you create small, medium and large clouds.
-
6
Dab a sponge into a bit of orange paint. Create the look of a sunset by adding subtle colors throughout the clouds. Do the same with purple paint.
-
7
Mix together eight parts of water with one part of off-white latex paint. This creates a thin wash to apply over the walls. This softens the look.
-
8
Use a paint brush to apply the wash over all of the wall and clouds. Allow it to dry.
