How to Find My High School Transcript

How to Find My High School Transcript thumbnail
You can obtain your high school transcripts in just a few steps.

Locating your high school transcripts is quite simple, since high schools are required by law to keep students' transcripts for 60 years. In order to obtain copies of your transcripts, or other documents from high school, such as records of testing scores, you will need to provide proof of identification. You may have to pay a retrieval fee and a small charge per page to cover the cost of copying.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact your high school guidance counselor's office. Most often, transcripts of grades are maintained in this office. If not, someone from the guidance counselor's office will be able to direct you to the appropriate person or office. Request the form for transcript request.

    • 2

Complete the transcript request form. Indicate your name at the time of attendance, in case you have had a name change.

    • 3

Submit the transcript request form along with any other necessary documentation. Most likely, you will need to make a copy of your birth certificate and/or state driver's license to verify your identity.

    • 4

Pay any applicable charges for retrieval and copying, if the school requires that you do so before records are released to you.

    • 5

Obtain copies of high school transcripts.
