How to Pour Fiberglass Resin Into a Mold

Creating a mold, such as a fishing lure, is something you can do by mixing and pouring a fiberglass resin. The fiberglass resin dries to a hard material that you can then use to mold a copy of an object. To create this mold, you need to obtain the materials that you will need to pour the fiberglass resin to make the mold.

  • Laminating paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Mold
  • Plastic jug
  • Fiberglass resin

      Place the baking pan on flat surface, such as a table or the counter. Cut a piece of laminating paper that is the size of the baking pan. using the scissors.

      Place the laminating paper along the bottom of the pan. The glossy side needs to be face down on the pan, with the adhesive side facing up.

      Secure the laminating paper to the pan on the edges with a few pieces of tape. Place the object that you want to mold in the center of the laminating paper.

      Mix fiberglass resin and the activator in a plastic jug by following the instructions on the package of fiberglass resin. Stir the mixture with the wooden stir stick.

      Pour the fiberglass resin over the object. The resin should extend at least 1 inch around the mold. Allow the fiberglass resin to dry for at least 2 hours.

      Place the baking pan upside down on the table or countertop to release the laminating paper from the baking pan. Pull the laminating paper off the mold and remove the object from the mold, if it did not stick to the laminating paper.

      Repeat this process for any of your additional fiberglass molds.
