How to Make Ram Air Intakes
A ram air intake allows for air to enter through an air duct at the entrance of the vehicle, usually around the bumper. The cold air will travel through the air duct and directly into the air box. This allows for cold air to be forced into your air intake. The ram air system also allows for a better acceleration rate, horsepower and gas mileage.
Things You'll Need
- Screwdriver
- Wire extension components
- Air conditioning duct
- Hacksaw
- Zip tie
- Mesh screen
- Metal shield

1
Remove the signal lights on the lower part of your vehicle under the front bumper, if necessary, using a screwdriver. Use extending wires and components to extend the wires of the lights. Bolt the lights upside down to the hard plastic under the front of the bumper.
-
2
Remove the air box from the intake tubing and take the air filter out.

3
Cut the bottom half of the air box off using a hacksaw. Cut just above the stock intake holes. Leave enough of the air box so that the A/C hose will stay connected. Remove the insulation from the A/C hose. Replace the air filter and the air box.

4
Use the air conditioning duct to stretch from the signal lights hole to the cut off section of the air box. Place a large zip tie around the edges of the tube that connects to the air box to hold it securely in place.
-
5
Install a mesh screen in the entrance of your intake tubing so that particles are not sucked through.
-
6
Install a metal shield around your air intake box by bending it to fit and using ties to secure it into place. This will allow for cool air to gather under the hood of the engine near the intake.
