How to Care for Acne Without Medicine thumbnail
Care for acne prone skin with natural acne treatments.

Acne is a common skin condition that affects millions of teens and adults. It presents itself on the skin as pus-filled pimples, bumps, whiteheads and blackheads -- when pores and hair follicles under the skin become clogged and bacteria begin to grow. Hormonal changes are most often the cause of acne. Although various types of medicine may be used to treat acne, it can also be controlled with basic skincare. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Pour 2 tsp. of Argon oil, 1 tsp. each of thistle and Castor seed oil, 30 drops of tea tree essential oil, 10 drops of mustard seed oil and 5 drops each of clove, rosewood, sandalwood and jasmine oil into a bowl. Extract the juice of 5 cloves of garlic by squeezing the cloves in a garlic press, over the bowl. Mix the ingredients thoroughly with a spoon, then pour them into a bottle with a cap. Apply the mixture to acne once daily at bedtime.

    • 2

Combine 1/4 cup of witch hazel, 1 tbsp. of aloe vera gel or juice and 10 drops of tea tree essential oil in a bottle with a cap and shake vigorously to blend the ingredients. Apply the mixture to acne up to three times daily with a clean cotton ball.

    • 3

Place 3 tsp. each -- dried basil leaves and chamomile -- in a pot of hot water. Bring them to a boil over a medium heat. Allow the herbs to steep for 30 minutes, to create herbal infused water: Then strain the water into a cup. Mix 3 tbsp. of the herbal infused water and 2 tbsp. of plain oatmeal flakes in a bowl to create a paste. Let the paste soften for about five minutes. Apply it to the acne. Rinse away the paste with warm water after 10 minutes.

    • 4

Crush 4 activated charcoal tablets thoroughly in a bowl. Add 1 tsp. of aloe vera gel or juice, 1 tsp. of purified water, 5 drops of tea tree essential oil, 3 drops of calendula essential oil and a pinch of sea salt and stir thoroughly -- until the mixture turns to liquid. Apply the mixture to your acne twice daily with a clean cotton ball.

    • 5

Dissolve 4 uncoated aspirin tablets in a bowl of warm water. Add 1 tbsp. each of pure honey and witch hazel and stir with a spoon. Apply the mixture to acne --- using a circular motion --- with a clean cotton ball. Allow the mixture to remain on the skin for at least three minutes, before rinsing it away with warm water. Repeat this acne treatment daily, as often as needed.
