How to Use Homemade Cleaners in My Bissell Proheat Shampooer

Use a homemade cleaner with your Bissell Proheat.

Bissell Proheat carpet cleaners provide a deep, thorough cleaning of your carpets and upholstery. When you initially purchase your Bissell unit, you are given a small bottle of Bissell carpet shampoo designed for use with your steam cleaner. When this runs out, you have the option to purchase a bottle of commercial cleaning solution, or you can make your own homemade cleaner that is safe for use with the Bissell Proheat unit.

Things You'll Need

• Laundry detergent
• White vinegar

Instructions

1. Open your cleaning solution compartment, located at the back of the Bissell unit, about halfway down the base.

2. Pour in one cup of water and two teaspoons of liquid laundry detergent.

3. Pour in two teaspoons of white vinegar as well, for an added boost. The vinegar both disinfects and deodorizes carpeting and upholstery without harming them.

4. Push your Bissell Proheat over your carpeting -- or use the nozzle attachment -- to clean upholstery. Remember to pull the steam trigger every 10 seconds or so, for a thorough deep-cleaning.
