Netflix is an easy way to watch movies from the comfort of your home. Depending on the level of membership, Netflix members pay a flat rate to rent up to four DVDs at one time. DVDs are delivered by mail and include a postage-paid envelope for return after viewing. Members can also watch titles through video streaming via the Internet with a feature called "Watch Instantly." A Netflix membership includes an online "queue" or list of rental movies and television programs. Adding a Netflix toolbar to your browser makes access to your Netflix account available with just one click. Organizing your movie and television titles and searching for new rentals becomes easy and convenient. You can download the Netflix toolbar in just a few easy steps.

Step 1

Access the Netflix toolbar download site (see Resources) and click on the "Free Download" button.

Step 2

Click on the "Install Now" button that appears in the dialog box if you are using Firefox, or on the "Run" button if you are using Internet Explorer. With Explorer, you will need to click "Run" a second time in the next box that appears. (If you have a pop-up blocker activated, deactivate it by clicking "Allow" when prompted.) Internet Explorer requires you to click the "Agree" button at this point to continue the installation. After clicking "Agree," click on the "Continue Toolbar Download" button.

Step 3

Restart your browser to complete the installation process. Internet Explorer will have automatically restarted after you set your preferences and clicked "Agree" in the previous step. Firefox opens a dialog box that states "Restart Firefox to complete your changes." Click on the "Restart Firefox" button. Firefox reopens a dialog box with the message "The Netflix Community Toolbar was installed successfully."

Step 4

Configure your settings in the dialog box that appears when Firefox reopens. For example, you can add or delete personalized options such as the email notifier, weather and radio buttons by checking or unchecking the boxes next to these names. You can also choose to set your search engine, homepage and Netflix notifications by checking or unchecking the boxes listed under "Please configure the settings below."

Step 5

Click the "Finish" button to complete the configuration of the Netflix toolbar in both Firefox and Explorer. The Netflix logo will now appear in the toolbar area of your browser. Clicking on the Netflix logo will take you directly to the Netflix homepage, where you can log in to your account and view your queue and other account information, as well as browse for more titles to watch instantly or add to your queue. You can also add more apps to your browser toolbar by selecting from the titles that appear on the "Thank You" page that appears when the toolbar has been successfully downloaded. Available apps include links to Facebook, eBay, Travelocity and more.
