How to Install a Cool Air Intake
A cold air intake is an aftermarket performance kit that replaces the stock air intake in your vehicle. A stock air intake restricts air flow with the ridged plastic intake tubing, an air box that restricts air flow and the inability to receive cold air. You can install an aftermarket intake system that has smooth mandrel-bent intake tubing that allows maximum smooth airflow and an air filter that is unrestricted and allows for better air flow. This increases the air-to-gasoline ratio, thus enabling the engine to generate a higher horsepower, acceleration and better gas mileage.

1
Remove the rubber fitting clamp from the throttle body with a flat-head screwdriver. Remove the air box from the intake tube by unclasping the latches in the air box and taking it out. Take the MAF, or Mass Air Flow, sensor off of your intake tube and set it aside carefully. The MAF sensor can be removed using a torx screwdriver. Also remove the air hose on the intake tubing.

2
Place the straight cold air intake tubing into the throttle body and use a rubber coupling with a clasping ring to secure it to the throttle body. Secure the clasping ring by tightening the screws on the ring with a flathead screwdriver.

3
Connect the second piece of the intake tubing to the first tubing piece and secure together using a rubber coupling and a clasping ring. Insert the MAF sensor into the appropriate location on the second intake tube and tighten it into place using the torx screws. Be sure to align the MAF sensor in the proper facing direction. Reconnect the air hose as well.

4
Connect a third piece of the intake tubing that bends down into the fender well to the second piece of the intake tubing using a rubber coupling and a clasping ring to secure them together.
-
5
Connect the air filter to the third piece of intake tubing that extends down into the fender well. Slide the air filter onto the intake tube and tighten a clasping ring around the base diameter of the air filter to secure it to the intake piping. Be sure to keep the air filter away from the engine or any other moving parts.

Tips & Warnings
A heat shield may be installed onto the intake following the product directions to further improve the cold air that is inducted into the intake system.
